Situated halfway between Auckland and Wellington on the west coast of New Zealand’s North island, the region is named after a large volcano Mount Taranaki (Mt Egmont as its also known) that dominates the skyline. The region is known for its outdoor activities, hiking , river rafting and world class surfing not to forget the winter snow sports on the aforementioned mountain.
