Auckland to Matakana - Arts and Vineyard Luxury Day Tour
As you leave the city behind, watch the scenery become increasingly rural, as houses yield to farms, country villages and national parks. An hour north of Auckland is Matakana village, this is a small country village with a thriving artisan community with boutique shopping, art galleries, local crafts and vibrant Saturday market – A true favorite for Aucklanders escaping the city and a great place for us to spend time exploring.
Then it’s off to nearby Morris and James pottery beckons us. During an informative and enjoyable 30-minute tour you’ll learn how local clay is used to create beautiful, handcrafted pots, wall art and sculptures, many with a uniquely New Zealand theme.
After a leisurely lunch in Matakana or the picturesque town of Warkworth, we head to a couple of the many well-established boutique vineyards and sample their wares, the stunning Matakana coast is home to many boutique wineries and although the region is a relative newcomer to the wine industry; the high quality wines are much prized, both in New Zealand and overseas.
Finally, we visit a pretty, peaceful beach during an easy journey back to Auckland.

What suzie says about this tour: One of my favourite day trips out of my home town of Auckland and the place I take friends and family visiting from out of town. A little bit of arts and crafts, enjoy winery visits and stroll down a beautiful kiwi beach. A perfect day out.
