Upon arrival in Wellington you will be met by a tour representative and transferred to your hotel. Depending on what time you arrive, you will then have some time to explore. Visit Te Papa, New Zealand's national museum, take a walk along Lambton Quay and immerse yourself in the city's famous coffee culture or meander along the waterfront following the Wellington Writer’s Walk - quotes from Kiwi writers are carved in large stone sculptures. This evening meet your Guide and fellow travellers for a welcome drink and dinner at your hotel.

Today you are free to select your choice of sightseeing. Perhaps join a tour of New Zealand’s Parliament buildings and the ‘Beehive’ or experience Weta Cave - where the creative talent behind the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit trilogies were created. Your Travel Director will assist you in booking all of your chosen optional experiences. This evening why not venture down to Courtenay Place or Cuba Street and dine at one of Wellington’s tucked-away bars or quirky cafés.

Wellington to Hawkes Bay
Travel past the dairy farms of the Manawatu through to Napier in Hawkes Bay. Relax after the days adventures - take a wander in the picturesque village of Havelock North, before joining your group for Dinner

This morning join a local guide for a city tour. You'll see the pervasive Art Deco flavor - as the city of Napier was rebuilt following the devasting 1931 earthquake. This evening you will taste Hawkes Bay - famed for outstanding produce and wine at one of the renowned wineries of the region

ROTORUA - THE PACIFIC RIM OF FIRE
You'll travel past Lake Taupo and the Huka Falls before continuing on to cultural Rotorua for a sightseeing visit. Visit Whakarewarewa Living Village, where oyou will meet the local 'iwi' - people and learn about their special bond with this land. This evening enjoy a traditional Maori Hangi dinner, a meal cooked in the ground using geothermal steam. See the Hangi pit and savour the unique flavours that the Maori have enjoyed for hundreds of years.

Visit the crystal clear waters of Rainbow Springs. You will have time for a unique encounter with the flightless Kiwi in the nocturnal enclosure - a rare opportunity to view this shy creature. Next up to the Tree Tops as you walk amongst the giant Redwoods - enjoying an elevated view with a series of 23 suspension bridges linking these majestic trees.
Begin your day in the subterranean wonder of Waitomo - with a 5 star Eco Glowworm experience at Footwhistle, led by an expert. You’ll travel on to New Zealand’s largest city, Auckland. Take an afternoon sightseeing tour and then the rest of the day is at leisure. Visit the grand Sky Tower for 360° views of the region and surrounding volcanic hills. Amble down Queen Street to the main shopping precinct or on to the Viaduct Harbour and the Auckland Waterfront region. This recently developed area of central Auckland has cafés and restaurants galore. Take a seat in the sunshine, enjoy a glass of one of New Zealand’s famous Sauvignon Blancs and watch the maritime activity on Waitemata Harbour.

BAY OF ISLANDS
Travel to Orewa and the scenic Hibiscus Coast, the birthplace of Sir Edmund Hillary. Then continue to the Waipoua Forest, a sanctuary that is home to many native trees including the largest Kauri tree in existence, Tane Mahuta (over 2,000 years old). A Maori guide will walk you through the native bush and explain the history and legend behind the mighty Kauri. Head to your waterfront resort in the heart of the beautiful Bay of Islands. Tonight it’s dinner at the resort.

RUSSELL / A DAY OF LEISURE
Check with your Journey Director for options today. You may like to take a ferry across the harbour to historic Russell, where a local guide will take you on a walking tour of the first European settlement and what was once the first capital of New Zealand. Perhaps head out on to the water on a dolphin watching cruise, and maybe even jump in the water for a swim with these magnificent creatures. Experience sailing aboard a historic tall ship or enjoy wine tasting around Kerikeri. Your Travel Director will assist you in booking all of your chosen optional experiences.

'HOLE IN THE ROCK' CRUISE
This is the most popular dolphin watching cruise in the Bay of Islands, and for good reason! Board your cruise in Paihia or Russell and take in the stunning views as we glide out through the islands and along the Rakaumangamanga Peninsula to Cape Brett, where a historic lighthouse keeps watch over Piercy Island/Motukōkako, or as it is popularly known the 'Hole in the Rock'. This four-hour cruise includes an island stopover, dolphin viewing and the Hole in the Rock. Morning cruises depart daily and afternoon cruises are available on Saturdays and Sundays.

Your holiday concludes this morning after breakfast, time to say goodbye. You will be transferred to the airport for your onward flight.
