‘Haere Mai’ and Welcome to New Zealand!

Flying into Auckland, you are transferred to your hotel to settle in and freshen up. Afterwards, venture out and explore the ‘City of Sails’. Journey up the Sky Tower, the tallest structure in the Southern Hemisphere, or visit the Auckland War Memorial Museum for an insight into New Zealand culture and history. Take a boat cruise on the harbour and see marine life and islands, or simply relax with a coffee in one of the many quirky inner-city cafes.

AUCKLAND - BAY OF ISLANDS CRUISE

We embark on a journey of discovery as we venture North today, driving along the scenic Hibiscus Coast and on to the magnificent Kauri trees at Parry Kauri Park. There’s time to explore New Zealand’s northern-most city, Whangarei, before we continue on to Paihia, the gateway to the coastal paradise that is the Bay of Islands.

Later we experience a spectacular scenic cruise to the famous Hole in the Rock and Cape Brett. This evening enjoy dinner with your travelling companions at the hotel.

One of the jewels in New Zealand’s coastline, the Bay of Islands offers a myriad of things to do and places to see; all located within a sheltered paradise of islands and inlets. Enjoy a day to yourself and choose exactly how you would like to explore.

Perhaps head back out on to the water and go on a Dolphin Watching Cruise, and maybe even jump in the water for a swim with these magnificent creatures. Or take a coach trip up to Cape Reinga - the very top of New Zealand, via idyllic Ninety Mile Beach. Experience a day of sailing aboard a Historic Tall Ship, enjoy wine tasting in Kerikeri, or join a jet boat Heritage Cruise and learn a little more about the settling of the Bay of Islands.

This morning you will have the opportunity to relax in the Bay of Islands, perhaps you may want to travel over to historic Russell, New Zealand’s first capital. This afternoon sit, back and relax as you make your way down through Northland’s lush farmland scenery and past the sprawling suburbs of the North Shore of Auckland. Tonight’s ‘highlight dinner’ is at The Langham. Your personal degustation menu is made from the freshest, quality ingredients, including mouth-watering seafood and desserts.

ROTORUA & Cultural Show

Join your Travel Director for a city sights tour of Auckland, including panoramic views from the Sky Tower, 328 metres above the city.

Enjoy a short orientation tour on arrival in Rotorua, the Māori cultural heartland. Visit Te Puia, the Māori Arts and Crafts Institute, where talented students carry on age-old traditions of wood carving and weaving. A tour of Rotorua’s active geothermal fields follows.

Tonight you have the option of enjoying the evening at the Tamaki Family Marae, which includes a traditional Maori Concert and delicious Hangi feast.

Tongariro National Park - WELLINGTON

Our journey takes us from the mountains to the coast. Travelling south, we stop to view the turbulent natural water display of the Huka Falls before visiting Taupo and driving along the shores of its huge lake. Marvel at the otherworldly landscapes of the Central Plateau in Tongariro National Park – the three volcanoes of Mount Ruapehu, Tongariro and Ngaruahoe stand sentinel over the barren lands. Enjoy afternoon tea at Shenandoah in the owners' garden then take a short tour to see the local wildlife including friendly Highland cows. We travel through the rolling farmland of the Manawatu region before following the Kapiti Coast south to New Zealand’s capital city. Tonight you will have a farewell dinner with your travel companions.

Enjoy a visit to New Zealand’s National Museum, Te Papa, this morning. Fascinating exhibitions, interactive experiences and stories shed light on New Zealand’s colourful culture and history. Afterwards, you are transferred to the airport to farewell New Zealand and begin your journey home.
