Sometimes you just get lucky and today was one of those days. We were staying at the beautiful Jean-Michel Cousteau Fiji Islands Resort and guess who should pitch up for the dive but the man himself Jean-Michel Cousteau. Considering he only gets to the resort one week per year, our timing couldn’t have been better. One of the best dives I've had in Fiji!

One good thing about heading our way for the festive season. We never have a white Christmas and the majority of our New Years Eve Parties are on a beach!

For those planning a holiday in the South Pacific between December 2011 and March 2012 it’s going to be a great time to be here for a summer holiday.

A long, hot, dry summer is on the way thanks to a returning La Nina weather pattern. Scientists say this year's La Nina is weaker than last year's so temperatures may not quite reach the highs of last summer which is probably a good thing….

In New Zealand Last summer was a record-breaker with heatwaves creating the hottest February on record for Auckland and Nelson.

It was a balmy 29 degrees, last Saturday afternoon on Fiji’s Coral Coast. We hadn’t been in the dive boat for more then 20 minutes when we arrived at the site. This was my third attempt to dive with the famous Bull sharks of Beqa Lagoon; last years efforts were foiled by foul weather and bad visibility. Now that we were kitted up and on the water there was no turning back. I (Brent) must admit, for a nanosecond, a flood of doubt surged through my mind - “OMG, NO CAGE, WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING!” shark diving Fiji

Until recently, access to some of the countries best-known breaks was restricted to high-end surf resorts claiming exclusive rights to nearby areas. The Fijian government has now changed that and issued a decree that has opened access to all surfing areas. Now, Fiji’s premium waves are open to everyone, even those on a budget to Surf Fiji! This legislation allows public admission to world-class waves that were previously only accessible through private resorts.
