Sailing in the Marlborough Sounds

The Marlborough Sounds are certainly a cruising paradise. There's a whole network of submerged mountain valleys, numerous islands and tranquil sheltered bays, bush-clad hills and almost 1500 km of deep water coastline to explore.

The two major Sounds in the area are the Queen Charlotte and the Pelorus Sound, and together they form the heart of this cruising area. D'Urville Island is the largest of the islands, and is separated from the mainland by the narrow, tidal channel of French Pass. Scenery is spectacular, ranging from towering forest clad mountains, through tranquil bays and coves to the rugged exposed shoreline of D'Urville Island. West of D'Urville is Tasman Bay. A cruise across this bay will reward you with the sight of golden beaches.

Cadan
Launched in July 2000, Cadan is a luxurious 15 metre Ron Given powercat equipped to a very high standard and offering exceptionally comfortable high speed cruising.

The spacious saloon, fully enclosed flybridge and huge cockpit provide ample space to relax and make the most of the area's superb cruising grounds. An island in the transom combines a large freezer, fishing station, BBQ and deck shower with a huge boarding platform. The upper sun deck provides shade and shelter to the cockpit and superb viewing or sunbathing. Double ensuite cabins in each hull give complete privacy and roomy hot shower & separate toilet are accessed from the cockpit. Total berths 2 doubles and 2 singles.

EJ
EJ is purpose built for fishing and diving trips - a comfortable and practical vessel. The head and hot shower are easily accessed from a great big cockpit and there is a humongous freezer for your days catch. The engine room provides plenty of storage for dive bottles and other gear, while the four big single berths in the forepeak, double and single beds in the saloon and a convertible settee means there's plenty of room for everybody.

Sail la Vie
Sail la Vie is a well-appointed cruising yacht with an amazing amount of comfort built in to her traditional teak interior. A very popular design, the Raven 31 is well known for its excellent manners and good turn of speed. Sail la Vie is easily sailed single-handed yet boasts two private double cabins with further berths in the saloon if required.

Matty
Matty is a supremely well designed Beneteau 440, ensuring a comfortable and easy Marlborough Sounds cruising experience with sparkling sailing performance when required.
Her three private double cabins and spacious saloon are thoughtfully equipped to cater for three couples, with a spare single berth as well. The cockpit is spacious and well laid out for relaxing with excellent visibility, wheel steering and a shady bimini.
