The beauty of this National Park is simply dazzling – golden beaches border the translucent turquoise sea, and sandy estuaries are fringed by pretty coastal forests. The area is home to both coastal and inland walking tracks that are world-famous for their natural beauty. The Abel Tasman Coast Track – one of New Zealand’s Great Walks – can be walked in 3-5 days, or choose to enjoy one of the many day walk options via sailboat, water taxi or sea kayak instead.

In Abel Tasman National Park, face-to-face encounters with marine wildlife and birds abound. Dolphins and Orcas often visit these pristine waters, and the resident fur seal colony is ever-entertaining. Just offshore, the Tonga Island Marine Reserve offers refreshing snorkelling, and blue cod, crayfish and abound. If you’re lucky, you might spot a little blue penguin fishing returning to shore from a day of fishing. If that all sounds a little too energetic, then simply enjoy kicking back on one of the many golden beaches dotted along the coastline.
