Motu (grade 3-5, 2-4 days)
The Motu River flows through the rugged Raukumara Ranges near Opotiki on the East Coast. This totally unique river is renowned for its unspoiled beauty and isolation.
The Motu River is the North Island’s last remaining wilderness river, protected as a "Wilderness Zone" through an act of Parliament.
This 100km rafting journey to the sea will challenge and stimulate you with exciting grade 3 –4 rapids. There is plenty of time to soak up the breath-takingly spectacular and pristine scenery.
By night relax around the campfire while your guide creates a tantilising culinary delight, as exploring the great outdoors does not mean enduring dehydrated food and all our guides are trained in the art of gourmet camp cooking.

Total Motu 2 days
Non-stop action and adventure with a combination of challenging experiences from a four-wheel drive excursion, helicopter ride to the very depths of the wilderness and exciting grade 3 – 4 whitewater rapids. This journey concludes with an exhilarating Jetboat journey to the coast.
Day Itinerary
Meet at the Opotiki Holiday Park at 8.00am, before departing by Four Wheel Drive to the very sumit of the Toatoa Valley. From here Helicopter to the Upper Reaches of the Motu to access the white water action of the Upper Gorge rapids. Camp overnight between the Upper and Lower Gorges.
Today we tackle the Lower Gorge rapids to White Rapid where we finish with an exhilarating Jetboat journey to the coast. From here we travel back to Opotiki by vehicle.
Total Motu 3 days
This 3 day Wilderness experience consists of a 4WD excursion to the Famous Motu Falls followed by 3 days of challenging grade 3-4 white water rapids, finishing with an exhilarating jetboat journey all the way to the coast.
Day Itinerary

Total Motu 4 Day Adventure
The Total Motu 4 day experience is the ultimate wilderness adventure. This journey commences with a 4WD excursion to the Upper Reaches of the Motu river, via the Waioeka gorge to the famous Motu falls. From here on it's stimulating whitewater action all the way to the coast.
Day Itinerary

Drift through the bush clad Lower Reaches of the Motu river right to the coast.
Upper Mohaka (grade 1-3, 2-4 days)
The Upper Mohaka offers a range of laid back rafting adventures, breath-taking sub-alpine scenery, crystal clear mountain waters running from the Kaimanawa Ranges, beech forests right to the water's edge, with just the right touch of excitement and challenge.
Take a helicopter from Poronui Station for some of the best introductory wilderness rafting in New Zealand. We also carry a range of boats to suit every thrill level, including inflatable kayaks for a real taste of the action.
The Upper Mohaka is everything you could want in a holiday: action, adventure, fishing, exploring, natural hot springs and an array of culinary delights served round the campfire under a starry sky.
The Upper Mohaka offers a great range of moderate grades one to three rapids and should not be confused with the Lower Mohaka grade 5
Upper Mohaka 2 Day Excursion
Perfect for those looking for a great range of moderate grade 1 to 3 rapids. Subject to minimum numbers. Please inquire for further information on prices and itineraries.
Day Itinerary
Depart from De Bretts Holiday Park by vehicle to Helisika Base Helicopter to the Mohaka river. Raft grade 2-3 rapids while enjoying the scenery around you. Camp overnight by natural hot springs.
Raft grade 2-3 rapids till the vehicle support point and travel back to the departure point.
Upper Mohaka 3 Day Excursion
This awesome three day adventure has something to suit everyone from exciting helicopter ride, challenging rafting, hiking, fishing, camping natural hot pools and fine cusine. This is the perfect leisurely adventure to soothe the soul.
Day Itinerary
Meet at De Bretts Holiday Park and travel to Poronui Station where the adventure begins with a helicopter ride along the Kaimanawa/Kaweka ranges to the starting point at the Mohaka river. Experience good white water rafting and breathtaking scenery all the way to the campsite. Take some time to stroll the river banks for a spot of fishing while you await your culinary delight served around the campfire. After dinner relax while soaking in the Mangitainoka natural springs hot tub under a starry sky.
Set out on another exciting day of good grade 2-3 whitewater rafting as we travel through native bush, farmland and forestry. Once again we enjoy the wonders of nature, with a stop at the Mangatutu Natural hot spings, then travel on after a good soak to our next campsite.
Raft today to the vehicle support and travel back to our meeting point in Taupo.
Upper Mohaka 4 Day Adventure
The ultimate four day adventure with everything from exhilarating helicopter ride, exciting whitewater rafting, fishing, hiking, natural hot springs and fine cusine under a starry night round the campfire. All this and a whole day to yourself to explore beech forests and fish.
