5 day Learn to Surf Surfari

Learn to surf and discover the real New Zealand!

The 5 Day Tour is a surf surfari for beginnners to advanced alike. The custom tailored surf wagon gets you on the beach to remote locations where you can learn to surf in uncrowded conditions. This tour takes you to the sub-tropical waters and climate of the winterless North, which offers a variety of waves to suit all abilities.

Most customers are beginners but many experienced surfers take our trips because we find the best waves to suit all abilities. For the new surfer having good surfers on board is a bonus, because by hangin with them it will greatly improve your surfing. The draw back is your vocabulary will change and words like barrels, gnarly, point break, floater, cutty, and others that are not in the dictionary will creep in. It is all part of the experience so not to worry. Our tour heads north for the simple reasons of the sub tropical water and climate, the remote and unspoiled beaches, and the consistency of the surf due to the proximity of the 3 coasts (North, East, West).

Surf tours New ZealandDaily Itinerary

There are always surprises and last second detours on this trip. This way you get to experience the best NZL has to offer, so don’t be locked into the itinerary you are about to read. Every day we will chase waves on either coast depending on the wind and swells, the only fixed part of the itinary is the set accommodation spots at Shipwreck Bay and the Bay of Islands.

  • Day 1 - Kia Ora, Welcome. The search begins departing Auckland & heading for the far north. Tonight we stay at Shipwreck Bay.
  • Day 2 - The majority of today’s driving is on the beach taking you to secluded surf locations. Shipwreck Bay accommodation.
  • Day 3 - Start the day with a surf and breakfast. Then the search begins again. Shipwreck Bay accommodation.
  • Day 4 (Grommets) - More of day 3. Shipwreck Bay accommodation.
  • Day 4 (Adults) - More of day 3 but by the evening our surf pilgrimage will bring us south to the party town of Paihia in the Bay of Islands.
  • Day 5 - Back to Auckland chasing waves on either coast. We arrive in Auckland in the late afternoon.
  • Bonuses: Sunsets, dolphins, whales, wild horses and dune boarding just to name a few.

  • 4 nights accommodation, dormitory style at surf lodges and back packers. (Upgrades: Twin $50 ($25pp per night), Double $75 per night)

Learning to surf in New ZealandAdventure Activities

Depending on our location the group has the option to experience any of the local adventure activities New Zealand has to offer. At your own expense.

General Information

Tours depart Auckland every Monday by 10 am and return Friday in the late afternoon.
Our surf season runs from approximately mid October through to mid June.
Tour groups are a maximum of seven so be in quick, first come first served.

What to bring

Personal items, sunscreen, sunglasses, towel, party funds and lots of energy.
