ARRIVE IN AUCKLAND

‘Haere Mai’ ... welcome to New Zealand

We take care of your transfer from Auckland Airport to the hotel. Make yourself comfortable before easing into some leisure time in the 'City of Sails'. Experience Auckland your way - perhaps get your bearings from atop the southern hemisphere's tallest building, the Sky Tower, or head for the Viaduct Harbour where you can enjoy fabulous shopping, restaurants or take a cruise of the Waitemata Harbour. The day ends sharing a welcome drink and 'Highlight Dinner' with your tour director and travel companions.

Glowworms - ROTORUA & Māori Cultural Evening

It's time to explore the kiwi countryside. Rolling hills of lush farmland greet us beside the mighty Waikato River on our way to Waitomo. A guided tour takes us into a spectacular Underground Glowworm Cave, a world of water sculpted limestone and galaxies of glow worms. Afterwards, we head east towards Rotorua for an orientation of New Zealand's geothermal and Maori culture capital. Soak up some great views of Lake Rotorua before we settle down to a Traditional Maori 'Hangi' Feast and evening concert.

ROTORUA at Leisure

Today it's all up to you. Pick from a variety of included activites: you can board the Skyline Gondola for commanding views over Lake Rotorua, head over to the Agrodome Sheep Show for a taste of 'very kiwi' farm life, join the Kiwi Encounter at Rainbow Springs Nature Park, discover the geothermal site of Te Puia  or simply relax in the Polynesian Spa. For the night you can choose if you prefer staying in your hotel room or being welcomed with a small group of fellow travelers at a local farm.

ROTORUA - WELLINGTON

Our journey takes us to the scenic shores of Lake Taupo. The largest lake in the Southern Hemisphere, the landscape is framed by the grand backdrop of Mt Ruapehu and its waters originate from the enormous Waikato River. At Huka Falls, we witness the entire flow of this great waterway thundering through a narrow rocky gorge. Enjoy your afternoon tea at Shenandoah, a historic villa owned by Simon and Claudia. They will happily show you around their property, which includes a unique private collection of Harley Davidson motor cycles. We finally arrive in Wellington, ending the day with a sightseeing tour.

Cruise the Cook Strait

We awake to a morning in New Zealand's eclectic capital,  visit our national museum, Te Papa before we Cruise the Cook Strait into Queen Charlotte Sound,  arriving in Picton and ending up in Blenheim where we will have a city sightseeing tour. Enjoy dinner tonight with local wine of the Marlborough region.

BLENHEIM - CHRISTCHURCH

The dramatic east coast unfolds before us on our way to the whale-watching haven of Kaikoura, nestled between the foothills of the majestic Kaikoura Ranges and blue waters of the Pacific Ocean. At Oahu Point see New Zealand fur seals, Later on you'll see the extensive work carried out to rebuild the city after the 2011 earthquake, when we finally arrive in Christchurch, our destination today.

Mount Cook National Park

Today, we're heading for the shores of Lake Tekapo and Lake Pukaki. Here, discover a breathtaking scene of turquoise water and splendid mountainscapes, cloaked in a veil of golden tussock grass. The spectacularly located Church of the Good Shepherd makes for some wonderful photos. For ultimate views of the surrounding Southern Alps, take an optional scenic flight over Mt. Cook - New Zealand's tallest mountain (weather and time permitting).

TE ANAU - Gateway to Fiordland

Today you have the option to visit Larnach Castle, ride the historic Taieri Gorge Railway or the Monarch Wildlife Cruise. If you prefer you may instead visit Cadbury World or Speight's Brewery before we set course for the scenic town of Te Anau - gateway to the otherworldly landscapes of Fiordland National Park. This evening, take an optional cruise on Lake Te Anau for a breathtaking Glow Worm Encounter in hidden caves that for years remained lost in Maori legend.

MILFORD SOUND CRUISE - QUEENSTOWN

With camera batteries fully charged, we set out on an unforgettable journey into a World Heritage Site of absolute majesty. The Milford Road takes us from Te Anau to Milford Sound on one of the most scenic drives on the planet. A glorious labyrinth of soaring peaks is punctuated by unspoiled rainforest, plunging valleys, azure lakes, waterfalls and glaciers. The light at the end of the Homer Tunnel marks the final reaches of this amazing roadway and our arrival at Milford Sound. Following a boat cruise of the sound, you will understand why this place was once described as the '8th natural wonder of the world'. Tonight, the magic of Queenstown awaits and we climb the world's steepest gondola to the wonderful Skyline Restaurant atop Bob’s Peak. This evening, we are entertained by a traditional Maori 'haka' (war dance).

Explore the unforgettable attractions of Queenstown at your own pace today - your Tour Director will recommend the ultimate ways to enjoy New Zealand's 'adventure capital' and give information about the included options. If you feel like taking it easy, you could treat yourself to tasting and fine dining at some world-class vineyards of the Gibbston Valley (amazing Pinot Noir), or stroll some of the region's top gardens. Thrill seekers will delight in a blast up the river on a Wilderness Jet Boat Ride or down the river on an exhilarating white water rafting excursion. This evening we'll take a trip across Lake Wakatipu on the TSS Earnslaw, the country's oldest steamboat, to Walter Peak Station  for a 'Highlight Dinner' at the Colonel's Homestead.

QUEENSTOWN - Franz Josef Glacier

Today marks is a wonderful section of our journey and the magic begins at our first stop in the delightful, leafy village of Arrowtown - a colourful rendition of the gold rush era located beside a stunning, clear flowing river. Further on, the town of Cromwell is wrapped in emerald water and rocky mountains and its remarkable cherries, apricots and nectarines are always a seasonal favourite. Lake Dunstan, Lake Hawea and the paradise of Lake Wanaka are all yours to admire before we climb Haast Pass for a look at Thunder Creek Falls and a wander amongst pristine rainforest. Franz Josef is our final destination for today.

Wonderful PUNAKAIKI

Enjoy stunning views of Franz Josef Glacier from the air or take a glacier hike (both optional) before an exhilarating adventure on the West Coast Treetop Walk, where we likely may encounter some birds while discovering the rainforest giants. Afterwards travel via Hokitika - renowned for wonderful crafts and home to our native pounamu (greenstone). We visit The Greenstone Factory for a jewellery carving demonstration. Towering stacks of limestone and wave battered blowholes await us at the famous Punakaiki Pancake Rocks, our final stop for today.

TRANZALPINE - CHRISTCHURCH

This morning we travel via Greymouth to Arthur's Pass where you'll board the famous TranzAlpine Train. Enjoy a  heavenly journey across the width of the country through the mighty Southern Alps and on to Christchurch. This experience is ranked among the world's top 6 train journeys. This evening join your fellow travel companions for a Farewell Dinner.
