‘Haere Mai’ and Welcome to New Zealand!

Flying into Auckland, you are transferred to your hotel to settle in and freshen up. Afterwards, venture out and explore the ‘City of Sails’. Journey up the Sky Tower, the tallest structure in the Southern Hemisphere, or visit the Auckland War Memorial Museum for an insight into New Zealand culture and history. Take a boat cruise on the harbour and see marine life and islands, or simply relax with a coffee in one of the many quirky inner-city cafes.

We embark on a journey of discovery as we venture North today, driving along the scenic Hibiscus Coast and on to the magnificent Kauri trees at Parry Kauri Park. There’s time to explore New Zealand’s northern-most city, Whangarei, before we continue on to Paihia, the gateway to the coastal paradise that is the Bay of Islands.

Later we experience a spectacular scenic cruise to the famous Hole in the Rock and Cape Brett.

Discover the Bay of Islands this morning, our first stop we visit the Waitangi Treaty Grounds, one of New Zealand’s most important historic sites. This is where the document was signed that made New Zealand a British Colony. Marvel at the intricacies of the Marae (meeting house) and Maori waka (war canoe) before soaking up stunning views out over the Bay from the manicured grounds.. Later we enjoy the New Zealand farmland scenery as we make our return to Auckland, where we enjoy an unforgettable evening dining at The Langham. Enjoy a personal degustation menu from the freshest quality ingredients.

Soak up the unique lifestyle of Auckland on a City Sights Tour before we begin our journey south. Crossing the Bombay Hills and descending into the fertile plains of the Waikato we stop at the Waitomo. Here, a magnificent natural light display twinkles in an underground labrynth of limestone cave formations. We experience the magical Glow Worm Grotto on a boat before strolling through the intriguing cave systems.

Later in the afternoon we make our way to Rotorua, home to geothermal forces and rich Maori culture. Our orientation tour showcases stunning views of Lake Rotorua. Tonight you have the option of enjoying the evening at the Realm of Tane, which includes a traditional Maori Concert and delicious Hangi feast.

Today we savour the great attractions in Rotorua, choice your favorite activity out of a range of included sightseeing experiences.

Included Experience Choices: Get up close to rare wildlife and our endangered national bird, the kiwi, at Rainbow Springs Nature Park, or admire the magnificent forces of nature at Wai-O-Tapu, home to diverse and colourful showcases of geothermal activity. You may also head to the Agrodome Sheep Show for an entertaining sample of kiwi farming culture or enjoy a hot soak in the Mineral Pools on the shores of Lake Rotorua or treat yourself to a special spa treatment.

Farm Stay Choice: Tonight you can also choose to enjoy kiwi hospitality on a local farm for an overnight stay instead of another night in your hotel room.

Our journey takes us from the mountains to the coast. Travelling south, we stop to view the turbulent natural water display of the Huka Falls before visiting Taupo and driving along the shores of its huge lake. Marvel at the otherworldly landscapes of the Central Plateau in Tongariro National Park – the three volcanoes of Mount Ruapehu, Tongariro and Ngaruahoe stand sentinel over the barren lands. We travel through the rolling farmland of the Manawatu region before following the Kapiti Coast south to New Zealand’s capital city. Get acquainted with Wellington on a city sights tour; soaking up the panorama from atop Mount Victoria before your Farewell Dinner with your travel companions.
