Sandpiper is a traditional trawler type hulled vessel with a length of 44', beam 14'6", draft 6'6" and displaces 24 tons. Built in Wellington and launched in late 1986 she is admirably suited for the New Zealand coast. She has 6'6" headroom in all cabins and is equipped with full galley facilities, 10 cu.ft. fridge/freezer, 7 bunks and 2 showers. With over 200 sq.ft. of deck area there is ample room for gearing up.
Sandpiper Dive Charters specialise in small group live-aboard dive trips all around the New Zealand coastline. Being based in Picton at the top of the South Island the majority of our work is in the Cook Strait area with many trips to the wrecks of the Lastingham, Rangitoto and Mikhail Lermontov.
Three months of the year ( April-May-June ) are spent chartering in Fiordland.
With almost 30 years diving experience this skipper knows the dive sites-very well, having dived from the Three Kings Islands to Stewart Island.
